Illinoize: Sufjan Mashed

illinoize

I’m a sucker for collaborative music.

I haven’t watched any MTV awards shows for years, but I remember they always used to include at least one collaboration per event… usually between a big-time pop star and a music legend.

Sometimes they’re lame, sometimes they’re good, sometimes they should be good but end up lame

but I always get choked up at the key change.

I’m kind of a sucker for mashups and remixes too…

but a good remix is hard to find.

Pretty much anything with Sufjan gets me excited though and so far I’m enjoying the chill vibe on this one.

I’m always looking for cool remix albums… got a recommendation?

Don’t forget to follow Strong Odors!

I have not heard many great remix albums, but I absolutely LOVE almost any one I’ve heard. So, I’ve got a low threshold. I love ‘em all. I’m a sucker too. Thanks for the recommendation. Downloading now.
    Linkin Park, Reanimation.
Jeremy White, Asleep in a Storm.

    Hi Troy-
It’s susie. Big fan of the odor tunes and your blog. I commented when you wrote about Zev. I am so sorry about the health problems that you have been going through. I am thinking good thoughts for you and I know (I think , at least, from what I see here) that you are a strong, spiritual and positive person that will kick this thing’s butt. Feel good & Happy Thanksgiving.
On a lighter note, loved Come on Feel the Illinois..(except did skip the Gacy song..growing up in Ill..I remember bits and pieces and now as a parent..anyhoo) and I do enjoy a mashup and your musical taste..so I will check it out. Thanks! Be well, Troy!

you should visit the “John Wayne Gacy” song. (the original, not remix)
hearing it live is one of the defining moments of my life.
and the message is extremely profound.

maybe i’ll write about it someday.

I have heard the original. I love the entire orig. album. It’s been a while, maybe will revisit Illinois and check out Michigan :) . I heard the Gacy song once and didn’t listen again. I just didn’t want to even think/deal with the subject matter. I can get disturbed (naturally) with that subject matter and can’t shake it..so I avoid. I shouldn’t take it out on Sufjan tho.
    Feel good & Happy Thxgiving.
