In the Year 2000

y2k-t-shirt

Remember when the world ended?

Everyone stock-piled cans of beans and Bibles in their crawlspace?

I don’t really remember that New Year’s Eve…

Did I flinch the moment that ball dropped? Run to check the computer to see if the interweb still existed?

Honestly, I probably went to bed early (as was my sad New Year’s tradition)

Part of me wonders if we’d be better off now if Y2K had actually been the catastrophe some originally hypothesized.

Regardless…. what started out as a concept for a hand-lettered shirt design turned into a modern letters/shapes experiment that is somewhat of a departure from my typical style but turned out pretty unique…

and a representation of both what might have been and what actually was.

(if you can’t see it… it’s a Y, 2, and K centered and stacked on top of each other… cool experiment)

Please go vote on Design by Humans today. Thanks.

Return of Looney Tunes Tees

looney-tunes-t

Looney Tunes has collaborated with fashion T-shirt designer Johnny Cupcakes to release these limited edition shirts.

Looney Tunes back en vogue??

I’ve been saving a purple Wile E. Coyote shirt (ca. 1991) just for this occasion. Now if only I can find some red Arizona jeans and I’ll be able to recreate the entire ensemble.

Neko in Gnome

neko-01

I bumped into Tee Shirt Gnome on my recent visit to Brooklyn.

Had I known then that Neko Case had been sporting his shirts, I might have had a better icebreaker than “how do you make these magnets, man?”

After all, Neko’s latest album Middle Cyclone is my favorite of 2009, and resulted in her being our newest dog’s namesake… (that’s a compliment).

The Gnome has some sweet stuff to offer… don’t know if he’s seen my work before or not (see lame icebreaker above).

We snagged one of the Brooklyn “tree” tees for Noël.

It will be worn with pride for decades.

Different Shade of You T-shirt Design

flying-fish-placement

My most recent submission is up for voting on Design by Humans—“Different Shade of You”

I feel good about the design… it is probably the most trendy thing I’ve done, but I still like it… and I think it’ll do well.

I’ve kind of had a vision of this for years… the design is inspired by a HUM song called “Suicide Machine.” Sometimes you just get designs in your head and you have to get them out somewhere… sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t… but it always seems to clear out a lot of space in my mind…

Take a minute, sign up at DBH and show a brother some love.
