Odorifous: T.C. Worley

As part of my inner-circle camping buddies (and so much more) over the years T.C. has inspired me—not to do something I don’t already—but to never give up on our greatest shared values.
- Do what you love.
- Collaborate.
- Get off your butt.
When young photographers (which is anyone with a Canon Rebel these days, right?) see the amazing work that T.C. is doing – mountaineering in the Alps, mtn. biking in the west and testing adventure gear around the world with Gear Junkie (this year alone he shot work in Chilean Patagonia, Germany, Alaska, Switzerland, not to mention from the Catskills to the Rockies…. ) they think “this is the work I’m going to do, he has the best job ever!!”
So they set up their Facebook page and wait.

Continuing my pension for posting every single thing Spike Jonze ever touches…
In 1994 Spike Jonze Directed a Beastie Boys video for the song “Sabatoge,” which instantly became my favorite all-time music video and made me a lifetime fan of both Spike and the Beasties.
This short-film (or long-form music vid?) just released – with Spike making more awesome stuff with the Beastie Boys.
I know at least a couple dudes who are gonna flip out when they see this.

Arcade Fire + Spike Jonze = “The Suburbs” Music Video
Posted by Troy | Filed under Music
I’m just creating a tag for Spike Jonze because anytime he ever does anything I’m going to write about it.
I suppose the same should be true for Arcade Fire
Right off the bat this video reminded me of another infamous take-me-back-to-my-teen-years-in-the-suburbs music video, but this one doesn’t end quite so happily-ever-after.

I Wish He was My Boyfriend

I love this song.
This video is so cool too. I can’t really put my finger on why it is so great, but it definitely has a 90s vibe to it (which, obviously I’m attracted to).
Maybe that feeling combined with Best Coast’s 60s jangly rock and the “real people” playing the characters in the story… the girl’s braces is probably the best part because you know 15-yr-olds with braces never smile unless something really wonderful is happening.
I don’t know, but it’s pretty awesome.

The Girl Effect
Posted by Troy | Filed under Good
I happen to have a girl of my own. I hope someday she knows how blessed she is so that those blessings overflow from her and onto those who need it most.
75 percent of 15- to 24-year-olds living with HIV in Africa are female.
Visit the website to find out how you can stop the cycle for one girl.

Apparently I haven’t had time for blogging this week.
So here’s a classic to tide you over.
I still think rotoscoping is cool. I mean…. I like the 90s, what can I say?

Note: Click “Play” below for a cinematic soundtrack to your reading. You’ll find out what it is later.
I only had to see this Coldplay video one time and I had to find out who made it.
Turns out it’s a group of college buddies who stuck together all these years later as the collective Shynola—a name which not only comes from one of my all-time favorite movies, but has also produced videos for some of my all-time favorite artists, like Beck and Radiohead and of course everyone’s favorite Coldplay…
I get so excited whenever I see artwork that is something like I would do. When I saw the work of these guys, I wanted to go out and make videos again.
I suppose that’s called “inspiring.”
